When do you choose 30mm weight plates?

Whether you have a full gym at home or are just starting to exercise at home, weight plates are essential for strength training. Did you know there are significant differences in the types of weight plates? When ordering weight plates, pay attention to the weight. The weight of the plates should match your goals. Light plates are used to stimulate blood flow and maintain muscle, while heavy plates are designed to build extra muscle mass. If you're just starting to exercise and don't know what's right for you, visit one of our physical stores and ask for advice. In the showroom, you can view and try out the products. This way, you'll know exactly which ones are right for you.

The diameter

For those new to exercise and unfamiliar with weight plates, a weight plate is a disc with a hole in the center that clamps around the bar. These come in all sizes, but the most common are 30mm and 50mm. Make sure the discs and the barbell are the same size. Some online stores sell 28mm weight plates, which won't fit a 30mm bar. The material

Besides the size of the weight plates, there's another important factor: the material. You've probably noticed before that the prices of these plates can vary considerably. This is due to the material they're made of. Classic weight plates as we know them are made of solid cast iron. Cast iron is an expensive material, and this will be reflected in the price. A cheaper alternative is weight plates made of plastic filled with materials like sand or concrete. While this would be a cheaper solution, keep in mind that plastic is more susceptible to cracking. When you purchase the weight plates, you get a two-year warranty. So, if your plastic weight plates do crack, you don't have to worry. If you train really intensively at home, we recommend buying weight plates made of chrome, cast iron, or rubber.

It's also helpful to know that rubber weight plates are a good choice if you don't want to make too much noise at home. The finish makes these weight plates much quieter to train with. It's also good to know that the rubber protects the plates from bumps and the floor.

In short, whether you're just starting out or looking to expand your collection, pay close attention to the dimensions of your set. There are two sizes of barbells: 30mm and 50mm. The discs should therefore be the same size as the bar. Now that you know what to look for, you can fully focus on building that muscle mass!
