Drinking with your muscle mass
A cold beer and some snacks on the patio with the sun shining brightly are delicious. We have good news for you, because a few glasses of alcohol (maximum 1 or 2) increase testosterone levels. And this is the hormone that helps build muscle. However, larger amounts have the opposite effect. This actually causes testosterone levels in the body to decrease significantly.
Another thing to be wary of is using alcohol as an after-workout drink. Alcohol dehydrates your body. Therefore, it's always a good idea to order a glass of water with your drink. Lack of water makes it harder for your muscles to heal themselves.
On holiday with your muscle mass
Take a break! It can be so good for you, but if you don't want to lose muscle mass, it's advisable to keep moving a little. This way, your muscles still feel needed and you won't lose any muscle mass. If you do absolutely nothing, you can lose up to 1.5 kg per week. This doesn't have to be a workout; a quick walk or bike ride is enough! If you keep doing this, the muscle loss won't start until about two to three weeks later. That's a nice, reassuring way to go on vacation.
Enjoy your muscle mass
Of course, we all want to stay in shape, but it's also important to enjoy ourselves a bit. On vacation, you can finally show off that summer body, so let's not spend too much time at the Spanish gym around the corner. If you do want to work out, you can easily do so on your Italian balcony with fitness bands, resistance bands, or something as simple as a good old-fashioned jump rope. Easy to take with you on your travels!
