Different Types of Rods

When you start strength training, you'll quickly notice that there are different types of bars and collars available to support your workout. In this blog post, we'll delve deeper into the different types of bars, such as dumbbells, barbells, EZ curls, tricep trainers, Olympic bars, and fixed barbells. We'll also discuss the two most common collars: spring collars and screw collars. By gaining a better understanding of the features and applications of these bars and collars, you can better decide which one best suits your training needs.
Dumbbell bar
The dumbbell bar is a versatile bar that can hold weights at both ends. It allows you to perform independent movements, training each side of your body separately. Dumbbell bars are ideal for isolation exercises and building stability and coordination.
Barbell bar
The barbell is a long bar with weights on both ends. This bar is often used for compound exercises that train multiple muscle groups simultaneously, such as squats, deadlifts, and bench presses. Barbells allow you to lift heavier weights and are ideal for building strength and muscle mass.
EZ Curl bar
The EZ curl bar has a curved shape that reduces stress on the wrists and forearms. This bar is specifically designed for bicep curls and other exercises targeting the biceps. It helps isolate the muscles in the upper arms and can add variety to your workout routine.
Tricep trainer
The tricep trainer , also known as the tricep bar, has two parallel handles in the middle and is specifically designed for training the triceps muscles. It provides a good grip and stability during tricep extensions and other tricep exercises.
Olympic bar
The Olympic bar is a robust and heavy bar used in Olympic weightlifting and powerlifting. It has a standard length and weight and features rotating sleeves at both ends. These rotating mechanisms reduce stress on the wrists and elbows during complex movements, making it suitable for serious weightlifters and powerlifters.
Fixed barbells
Fixed barbells are more compact versions of the barbell, where the weights are permanently attached to the bar. They are useful for aerobics, group classes, and light strength training. These bars are often available in different weight classes, so you can choose the one that best suits your level.
Spring lock & Screw lock
Spring collars are clips with a spring mechanism used to hold weights in place. They are easy to use and require no additional tools. As the name suggests, the screw collar consists of a threaded rod that is screwed onto the bar to secure the weights. Screw collars provide a strong grip and are ideal for securing heavier weights to the bar. They are often used with Olympic bars and other heavy bars where extra security and stability are important.
