From Dry January to 'Tournée Minerale'
Share
In Belgium, they take a month off alcohol in February, much easier than a Dry January, of course, with only 28 days. And yet, we're still paying attention to this, because after a month of alcohol, the trick is not to make up for all the missed drinks in February...
In this article you can read more about the effects of a month without alcohol and how you can best build up your alcohol consumption again.
The benefits of a month without alcohol
A month without alcohol offers many benefits. The biggest one could be that your liver will recover somewhat, though this naturally depends on the extent of your liver damage. Your liver can (partially) recover and even regrow up to 70% if you don't drink a drop for a month.
And then, of course, we have the most obvious benefits: weight loss, better sleep, more beautiful skin, and stronger immunity. Surely those are good reasons to perhaps take another Tournée Minerale.
The disadvantages of the months with alcohol
Sure, a drink is fun, but you only really notice the most benefits of a no-alcohol lifestyle in the long run. And it just so happens that many people find themselves drinking again after a Dry January. A small group of people are more aware of their drinking habits and are increasingly skipping a drink. Apparently, giving up alcohol becomes easier and more enjoyable the more you stick with it.
Unfortunately, you won't build up reserves during a Dry January. Therefore, it's recommended (if you really want to experience the benefits) to keep going a little longer. Or at least drink less. Here are our tips!
Tip 1: Don't buy alcohol. These days, we can have groceries delivered to our homes in 10 minutes, so there's really no need to keep those bottles of wine on hand, and you'll be less likely to be tempted.
Tip 2: Convince your friends to join in or at least support your resolution. They'll be thrilled to have your beers.
Tip 3: Always have a non-alcoholic option. If you're having drinks at a friend's house, bring your own non-alcoholic beer or wine. That way, you'll always be able to join in the fun. Good luck!
