Tips for exercising outdoors in the sun
Share
Tip 1: Sooner or later
If the forecast calls for a beautiful, warm day, choose to exercise early in the morning or later in the evening when the sun isn't as strong. And don't exercise early in the morning with a serious hangover, or late in the evening after beers on the patio. Alcohol disrupts your fluid balance, which is already difficult enough to maintain on warmer days.
Tip 2: No alcohol, but water
So: no hangovers or wine as a pre-workout, but drink plenty of water. This is important before, during, and after your workout to maintain your fluid balance! This prevents dehydration. Coconut water is also a good option; it's very hydrating. You can also monitor your urine. If it's almost colorless, you've drunk enough, but if it's yellow, it means your body isn't hydrated enough.
Tip 3: Be cool
On a hot day, it's nice to wear a cool outfit. So wear something light and airy. When exercising in the heat, it's important that your clothing is comfortable and breathable. You can even choose a special fabric that wicks sweat away effectively. And when you're done? Then take a quick, refreshing shower! Wet, sweaty clothing lets in more UV rays.
Tip 4: Spot on
Ready to go? Now all you need is a good spot. Avoid asphalt, as it generates a lot of heat. This is especially undesirable if you're exercising later in the day, as you'll quickly get sweaty feet. So, find a nice, sheltered spot in the park, for example. Once you've found your spot, all that's left to do is lay out your gear.
