Post-holiday fitness tips: lose those Christmas pounds as quickly as possible

The holidays are over! A time of cozy gatherings with family and friends, exchanging gifts, twinkling lights, hot chocolate, Christmas movies, and lots of food and drink. The latter often in abundance. It's no wonder that losing weight is one of the most frequently mentioned New Year's resolutions, year after year. People want to lose those unwanted Christmas pounds as quickly as possible, and these tips will help you do it faster!
Dry January
If you drink alcohol, you've probably had plenty of drinks over the holidays. Unfortunately, alcohol is a serious calorie bomb and slows down your digestion, leading to increased fat storage. To compensate for the holidays, it might be a good idea to participate in "Dry January," where you don't drink a drop of alcohol in January.
Drink enough water
If you drink soda often, put it aside and switch to water. Water is calorie-free, promotes good digestion, and helps you eliminate waste products more quickly. If you're trying to lose weight and burn fat, it's best to drink at least 1.5 liters per day. This way, the toxins released during fat burning will be flushed out more quickly.
Get enough sleep
A good night's sleep is essential for weight loss. If you don't get enough sleep, you'll have little energy during the day, which can lead to overeating.
Listen to your body
Your body is the best at telling you whether it's full or hungry, so listen to it. Try not to overeat just because it's Christmas. If you're full, by all means, skip that extra pastry, Bundt cake, or Christmas cookie. This way, you'll already be cutting back on those Christmas pounds.
Eat healthy snacks regularly
It might sound obvious, but it's important to emphasize this: eat healthy snacks alongside your main meals. Try to reduce the portions of your main meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) so you can eat 6 or 7 meals a day. This way, you'll avoid overeating, which your body can't process at once. Therefore, choose healthy snacks, such as fruit, snack vegetables, a handful of nuts, a whole-wheat cracker with a healthy topping, etc.
Grab a smaller plate
That sounds incredibly simple, but it works! If you serve food on a smaller plate, you automatically eat less. It's the same with drinks: you drink more from tall, thin glasses than from short, wide ones. This is more of a psychological effect, but it does help you lose those Christmas pounds!
